Embracing Nature, Celebrating Diversity

The Constitution Gardens, spanning around 16,000 square feet around the Constitution Museum, will celebrate India’s diversity and democratic ideals. The garden design aims to create a sensory experience that enhances the transition to the museum, allowing the building to stand out without being overshadowed.

A living canvas of unity and democracy, these gardens bloom with India’s cultural richness, weaving together every layout, color, texture, and contour into echoes of unity, inclusiveness, adaptability, and the essence of complex governance. As a tranquil sanctuary, they invite visitors to pause and reflect, offering a serene moment to ponder the ideals of the Constitution before stepping into the museum’s profound narratives.

This garden is thoughtfully designed with distinct layouts, where perennials and seasonals converge, creating a space that evolves with the changing seasons. Each area retains its unique identity, while a blend of enduring and seasonally shifting plants ensures the garden remains vibrant and dynamic. Like a democratic space, it invites transformation, where new species grow alongside the existing ones, yet the overall design remains unified and harmonious.

4 Design Elements

Layout : The garden layout features symmetrical geometric planting beds that complement the triangular form, creating balance and cohesion across seven concepts in 12 sections. Accessible pathways connect sculptures, the museum, and softscape, offering diverse visual experiences.

Colours : The garden’s colors, like delicate brushstrokes, accent the space with subtle elegance, enriching its character with vibrant yet understated hues from perennial leaves that celebrate diversity and inclusivity.

Textures : The garden’s textures create a sensory symphony, blending soft leaves, bold forms, spiky edges, glossy and waxy surfaces, velvety softness, and rugged textures, enriched by scattered pebbles and stones that enhance its tactile rhythm

Topography : The topography features mounds and height variations, with stepped plantings creating depth and focal points. Curved and straight pathways gently rise and fall, guiding visitors through a harmonious blend of nature and movement.
