Landscape Masterplan and water management
The 1445 sqm Pero flagship showroom site in New Delhi features a multi-level retail space with 50% open area. The landscape design aims to prioritize sustainability, functionality, and high-end spillover spaces for visitors, with decentralized water management solutions.

The sponge zone transforms a low-lying (-0.60m) area into a dynamic water-sensitive landscape, turning a challenge into an opportunity for sustainable water management. Spanning 260 sqm, this permeable mini-pond, filled with gravel, absorbs and recharges surface water through strategically placed recharge pits, mimicking nature’s own filtration system. Elevated pathways (+0.30m) weave through the site, ensuring uninterrupted movement while maintaining the integrity of this innovative water-retentive terrain.
The site integrates a multi-layered water management system, with a three-level sponge area featuring gravel infill and wetland plants to naturally retain and recharge stormwater. An elevated pathway ensures seamless movement across the site, unaffected by seasonal water retention, while steps provide access to the landscape. A rooftop rainwater harvesting system efficiently collects and stores rainfall, redirecting excess water for reuse in flushing systems. Surface runoff is managed through a thoughtfully designed sponge area with recharge pits, enhancing infiltration and directing any overflow to a forested zone, ensuring a sustainable and resilient landscape.
Movement: An organically designed elevated pathway (+0.30m) connects all blocks with steps and ramps, ensuring seamless circulation, even during monsoons. Blocks 5, 6, and 7 feature a ground-level path (+0.40m), linked to the elevated path via a ramp.
Landscape: A dynamic interplay of sponge areas, gravel beds, and vegetation creates a visually rich and functional outdoor environment, transforming with the seasons.
Social & Engaging Spaces: Outdoor seating areas, pathways, and a lawn boardwalk provide inviting spaces for relaxation and interaction, seamlessly integrated into the natural setting.
Natural Wetlands: A designed wetland system supports water filtration, biodiversity, and stormwater management, enhancing the ecological value of the site.
Integrating Ecology, Experience & Functionality: The landscape design balances sustainability, aesthetics, and usability, offering an immersive experience while efficiently managing water and ecological processes.

The elevated path ensures seamless access across all blocks, functioning efficiently even during monsoons when sponge areas retain water before quick absorption. In dry seasons, the gravel bed and vegetation become a distinctive landscape feature, enhancing the site’s visual and ecological appeal.
